Sake is brewed alcoholic beverage like beer and wine, from rice. On the other hand, Shochu is distilled spirit from rice, barley, sweet potato, brown sugar or buckwheat. The alcoholic content of sake is generally lower than that of shochu.
Sake contains no added sulfites or other preservatives.
Sake should be stored in cool and dark place: best in the refrigerator. High temperature and light (ultraviolet) cause the deterioration of sake. Once you open a bottle of sake, please keep it in the refrigerator.
Sake before opened has no expiration date nor best before date, but we recommend drinking within one year of bottling date to enjoy the flavor. After opening the bottle, it is better to drink as soon as possible.
